2018 Primary Election Day

All polling locations opened on time at 7 a.m. this morning. Shortly after the polls opened, we were made aware that some ballots were not being accepted by tabulator machines due to a printing specifications error by an outside vendor, but all voters were able to cast their ballots.

All poll workers in their pre-election instruction are trained on how to handle situations when ballots may not be accepted by the tabulator, and the proper procedure is being followed in all precincts. Ballots that are not being accepted by the tabulator machines are placed in a secure, locked compartment and they will be counted in the presence of the canvassing board after the polls close. The Canvassing Board meeting is open to the public.

Supervisor Hogan states, “My office quickly identified the issue at-hand, and because we plan for the unexpected to occur in any election, our back-up process is working. I want to ensure the voters in Duval County that every ballot cast by every voter will be counted and will be counted accurately. ”

Polls close at 7 p.m. and any voters in line at 7 p.m. will be able to cast a ballot.

Voters with any questions or concerns can call the Duval County Supervisor of Elections’ Office at 904-630-1414.
