Redistricting

Every ten years after the U.S. Census, the Florida Legislature redraws the boundaries for state House, state Senate, and congressional districts to comply with federal and state law. The purpose of redistricting is to ensure that each district has equal representation at all levels of government. The redistricting process must be completed before candidates can qualify for elections.

In December of 2015, the Supreme Court of Florida and the Second Judicial Circuit Court in Leon County ordered new congressional and state senate plans, respectively.
