Writing and Infographic Contest
What: Write a 500-1000 word essay or create a digital infographic on one of three topics:
1. the importance of registering to vote
2. why your vote matters
3. current Florida election law and how it affects voters
Essays must be typed or written legibly in blue or black ink. Infographics must be created digitally and saved as a PDF.
Who: Two contest groups; 9th-10th grade students and 11th-12th grade students. Students must be enrolled in Duval County Public Schools.
Why: To generate excitement and spread the word about the importance of voting.
When: Deadline is Tuesday, May 1, at 5:00 p.m. Essays and infographics may be emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org or dropped off at the Supervisor of Elections office at 105 East Monroe Street in downtown Jacksonville (32202). Two winners will be announced by Thursday, May 10, 2018. Please call Deon Ferrell at 904-630-8030 or email her at the above address with any questions.
How: Entries will be judged on creativity, content, relating well to a high school audience, and correct grammar and language usage.
